Enjoy a relaxing day out in one of our luxury four wheel drive buses as we travel across the Watagan mountains and down into the Hunter Valley Vineyards.

Our first stop of the day will be mount sugarloaf with views over lake Macquarie (largest coastal saltwater lake in the southern hemisphere or 4 times the size of Sydney harbour) as well as the coast and beaches a good photo opportunity (our morning tea stop) then onto the four wheel drive tracks that will take us into an area that has been continually logged for over 160 years and our lunch spot where we will take a short walk through the forest and past a beautiful moss wall with plenty of time for photos. After lunch we will continue on our way through the forest and fertile farmlands before stopping to take in the views over the hunters vineyards. for those wishing to partake in a little wine tasting or buying we will be stopping at a winery or two for an afternoon break.

Our all-purpose designed 4WD and 6WD will trasnsport us to the spectacular Stockton sand dunes for an adventure of a lifetime, touring across the massive 40 metre high dunes on route to the Sygna Shipwreck, a 58 thousand ton Norwegian bulk carrier washed ashore by strong winds in 1974.

Then it's off to the 'Pyramids' and old WWII site. At this stop we can do some Sandboarding down a 35 metre dune at breathtaking speed.

'Tin City' is next, emerging like a mirage out of the sand dunes. It began in the late 1800's when 2 tin huts were built to shelter shipwrecked sailors. As there are some 98 shipwrecks along that part of the coast, the huts increased in numbers in the 1930's.

A number of movies have been made at 'Tin City' including parts of Mad Max and the pub still stands there! As we make our way back to Newcastle we stop off on the beach for a Pipi Catch and Release.

Take an adventure on the largest moving sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere in one of Dawsons 4WD or 6WD purpose built vehicles. On our tour you will go sandboarding down the massive 40 metre dunes at breathtaking speeds (not for the faint hearted), but we do have smaller dunes for those not so adventurous.

Other activities on this tour are driving across and down the massive sand dunes to the beach to do some Pipi Catching and Release. See how they burrow their way back down into the sand.

An exciting fun filled 70 minutes drive along the beach and across some of the 35 metre high sand dunes, visiting 'Tin City', the 'Pyramids' and old WWII site and some Sandboarding and Pipi Catching along the way. We arrive at the Sygna Shipwreck a 58 thousand ton Norwegian bulk carrier blown ashore in 1974 by strong winds on it's maiden voyage.

We now head west across the dunes exiting via Lavis Lane to our next stop WONGANELLA WINES, a family owned and operated winery established in the 1800's, for some FREE WINE TASTING. Located on 35 acres with picturesque views of the hinterland ... a perfect end to an exhilarating tour.

After an exciting 20 minutes drive across the sand dune you will find 'Tin City' emerging out the sand dunes like a mirage! It all began in the late 1800's when two tin huts were build to store provisions for shipwrecked sailors (there are some 98 shipwrecks between Newcastle and Port Stephens). In the 1930's Great Depression 'Tin City' grew to 14 huts.
